We need to collect accurate information to use to make decisions. We are currently making decisions based on ill collected information. If we want to enhance performance we need to have good information.
We enhanced our ability to fight crime significantly when we implemented our crime analysis unit several years ago, however as I stated in my grant paper, we still are not up to par on the national average in reduction of crime. Which is why our Chief and Deputy Chief are seeking this means via predictive policing.
when MICR reporting from other agencies includes address locations which they are currenlty working on. Right now we have the ability to obtain data for predictive analysis based on MSP reports statewide. The next upgrade to MICR will include that all law enforcement agencies statewide will have to input the address location into the MICR. When this is complete, the MIOC will have have instance access to statewide trends in crime. Crime and criminals are mobile and agencies are in silo's and don't share information. With this new MICR requirement, the MIOC will immediately see crime trends and be in a position to provide this information to those agencies in that area.

We do thing because that is what we have always done ???? We did take a step in the right direction last year at the beginning of the school year and used data to deploy officers during high traffic flow to certain areas to assist with traffic. More decisions like this one could help us in the future.
